In the 110 sqm apartment in Badea Cârțan 13 residence, the design seeks to evoke the quintessence of cherished experiences, drawing inspiration from Soho House Chicago and Tulum, Mexico. This fusion manifests through an eclectic assemblage of furniture and design elements unified by a bold and inviting color palette.

Echoes of Soho House resonate in the azure tones and their ability to seamlessly harmonize disparate elements. From Mexico, the voluminous application of vibrant reds adds a striking counterpoint. Essentially, color acts as the organizing principle, further embellished by the client’s collection of greyhound paintings.

The brief demanded a space that was welcoming yet unconventional – a bohemian sanctuary with a touch of grandeur, avoiding both minimalism and industrialism. Reminiscent of both Mexico and Soho House, the design employs striking juxtapositions: the coral-red alcove and brass-accented entrance find balance against the dark hues of the black walls and furniture.

The client’s passion for plants and the greyhound paintings further enrich the experience, while curvaceous ceilings and warm lighting soften the strong lines, fostering a tranquil atmosphere.

The conversion from residence to hotel involved subtle overall alterations, predominantly consisting of the release of the existing framework and its transformation from loft to attic, thus making the space suitable for temporary living.

The added dormers in the attic replicate the gaps in the lower registers, remaining within the parameters of typical Stalinist academicism.

NEW HERITAGE - 3rd place winner for the 2025 Biennale di Venezia Competition

We are excited to announce the groundbreaking of our ambitious project for the renewal of an existing building within Făgăraș protected area. The proposal seeks to honor the architectural heritage of the site while transforming it into a refined three-star hotel. What if architecture could do more than create spaces—what if it could forge connections? Our proposal celebrates Romania’s unique cultural landscapes, where nature and tradition coexist in harmony. This vision reclaims sustainable construction and community-driven practices, reshaping architecture as a mediator between humanity and the natural world. Construction thus becomes a communal act, bringing people together whilst architecture isn’t just built—it’s lived, shared, and sustained.
