A well-established destination, carefully rethought without interruption. Lotus Therm & Spa explores how an existing identity can be preserved while its spatial
experience is gradually redefined.
Lotus Therm & Spa is the only 5-star thermal complex in Romania, offering an extensive range of facilities—from indoor and outdoor pools, restaurants and bars, to fitness, treatment, and well-being areas—positioning it as a complete destination for relaxation.
Over time, it has become a landmark in Băile Felix, frequented by both tourists and the local community.
The project addresses two major challenges. The first, logistical in nature, involved the phased renovation of public spaces and guest rooms without interrupting the hotel’s operations. The second, conceptual, focused on updating the interior design while preserving the familiar identity of the place.
Natural materials play a central role. Wood, ranging from oak and walnut tones to lighter ash finishes, structures the spaces and adds depth, complemented by a color palette drawn from nature: deep blue, sage green, and emerald green. Together, they create a relaxed and cohesive atmosphere.
The reception area introduces the design language through organic forms and subtle light reflections, evoking the fluidity of water. Common areas are open and bright, with generous glazed surfaces that maintain a constant connection to the exterior. Vegetal inserts and sculptural ceiling elements complete the composition in a restrained manner.
Guest rooms are conceived as spaces of retreat, where soft textures, warm lighting, and nature-inspired details create a comfortable and balanced environment.
Overall, the project proposes a contemporary interpretation of a retreat, where materiality, light, and proportion contribute to a calm and grounded hospitality experience.
