SOHODOL-MOUNTAIN MEDICAL CENTRE

Inspired by nature, on the Sohodol river valley, surrounded by calcareous rocks covered by fir forests, we find the Resort. In this fascinating and isolated setting, almost initiatory, a holistic experience oriented towards mind and body, rediscovering the essential, health takes place.

Our intervention is composed of a main body with the role of a hotel, diagnostic, treatment, relaxation and recovery center and a series of pavilions placed on the level curves of the land with a rather large slope.

The architectural searches respect both the traditional heritage of the Gorju area which also inspired Brancusi in his works, the registers of traditional houses with stone plinths and dark brown wooden floors, the sloping roof, the woodwork and attention to the combination of wooden elements, the sincerity of the structure , as well as the natural context, by using natural materials (natural stone extracted from quarries in the area and brown wood obtained by traditional methods).

The main body opens to the river valley through a stone portico, a filter between inside and outside that pushes the limits of the spaces on the ground floor to the outside. A sustainable approach through the quality of architecture and materials, details and long-term thinking.

NEW HERITAGE - 3rd place winner for the 2025 Biennale di Venezia Competition

We are excited to announce the groundbreaking of our ambitious project for the renewal of an existing building within Făgăraș protected area. The proposal seeks to honor the architectural heritage of the site while transforming it into a refined three-star hotel. What if architecture could do more than create spaces—what if it could forge connections? Our proposal celebrates Romania’s unique cultural landscapes, where nature and tradition coexist in harmony. This vision reclaims sustainable construction and community-driven practices, reshaping architecture as a mediator between humanity and the natural world. Construction thus becomes a communal act, bringing people together whilst architecture isn’t just built—it’s lived, shared, and sustained.
