OTP BANK LEARNING CENTER

1ST PRIZE @BIGSEE AWARD 2019

The Tic-Tac-Toe game inspired us because it's simple, at hand and fun. OK Center is a center for informal and friendly courses; an anti-boredom place, open to dialogue and directly involved in the learning process. Space speaks of itself, about the materials it is made of and its connection to the world: installations and raw building materials are intentionally left visible.

Status: Built
Year: 2012
Location: București, România
Client: Foundation “Dreptul la Educație”, partnership with OTP Bank Romania
Year of completion: 2017
Total area: 1.000 sqm
Partner in charge: arch. Elena Dragu
Team: arch. Simina Ignat, arch. Cosmin Anghelache
Photos: Andrei Mărgulescu
Project Partners: OK Atelier s.r.o., MALANG s.r.o.

We aimed for a fluid and surprising place. In this sense we enhanced a feature that initially seemed to be a constraint, namely the long and mazelike corridors, developing them in an exhibition route marked by elements of interest: the "pockets" of play. Simple materials such as concrete and wood are strategically duplicated by large splashes of color.

Cumulus wins 3rd prize @ ”Colentina Lakes” Competition

The competition aimed to develop the landscaping of the Colentina lakeshores over the entire length comprised in the 2nd District. By analyzing the geographical context we discover that Bucharest is not a flat city. Actually, the flat does not exist, there is always a slope of a few centimeters, of a few meters or sometimes of even 10 meters. Therefore, our proposal follows to rediscover the subtle slopes.
