OMG ATLAS

In 1907, the first wing of the palace emerged, embracing the historic ‘old’ Bucharest. Its winding streets echo the traditional values of oriental merchant fairs. By 1914, the second wing welcomed the ‘new’ Bucharest, influenced by French ideals, earning the city its ‘Little Paris’ acclaim. The design honores this heritage blending French sophistication with local charm.

At the entrance, two atlantéan figures bridge past and present. Unlike their classical counterparts, these evocative forms extend a transgenerational welcome with relaxed postures, signifying inclusivity. They transcend mere decoration, acting as liminal guardians who guide guests from the exterior to the hotel’s layered narrative. This stylistic fusion, hinted at by the figures, sets the stage for a multifaceted and evocative experience.

The internal courtyard acts as a transitional moment between eras, blurring the lines between interior and exterior. The celestial light installation, the breccia stone decor, and the lobby, adorned with oversized letters, columns, and decorative elements, invite the guest to immerse in the palace’s story. Inspired by Parisian squares and cabinet de curiosités, various lounge areas seamlessly merge oriental and French aesthetics, creating a truly distinctive atmosphere.

The restaurant interior offers a bazaar-like experience with rich fabrics, patterns, and moody lighting along its longitudinal axis, blending contemporary touches. Outside, an oversized central bar dominates, evoking the charm of French orangeries and botanical gardens, elevating the dining experience.

The ornate corridors exude a light, effortless ambiance, guiding guests through the building seamlessly. Neutral tones and soft architectural lighting facilitate smooth transitions between spaces and floors, reflecting the building’s upward progression.
