Restoring and modernising a legendary building, part of Romania’s architectural patrimony comes with extraordunary responsibility and hundreds of hours of intricate research work.
We imagined the community life of this building centered around two urban, yet private courtyards. There are two iconic finishes that define this construction namely the brick cladding and the steel elements.
MARe - the Museum of Recent Art - is intended as an incubator for vernacular visual culture, both a platform for rethinking recent Romanian art, and a panorama of the local art scene of the past decades.
